Parachuter Caught In Goalpost Netting During Armed Forces Bowl Pregame Stunt

A pregame parachuting demonstration at the Armed Forces Bowl in Fort Worth briefly went awry Friday when one parachuter became entangled in the netting behind a goalpost and fell into the end-zone area.

The incident occurred shortly before kickoff at Amon G. Carter Stadium ahead of the bowl game between Rice Owls and Texas State Bobcats. Video shared on X shows the parachuter suspended near the top of the goalpost netting, approximately 35 feet above the ground, after becoming caught on a field goal support cable.

According to the X post by The Gary & Dino Show, three of the five parachuters involved in the stunt landed safely on the field, while one landed outside the stadium and another became caught in the cable before falling to the ground. The account cited reporting from GND Sports contributor Dave “Is Jitters” during the live event.

Bowl officials later said the parachuter involved in the incident was not injured and that there were no apparent injuries to spectators in the end-zone area, according to reports cited by the Houston Chronicle.

Officials said additional details about the parachuter were not immediately available.

The parachuters were part of a coordinated pregame ceremony in which multiple jumpers exited a small aircraft carrying flags. The team involved was identified in reports as the All Veteran Group, a parachuting team composed of military veterans that has performed similar demonstrations at NFL and college football games.

Despite the incident, the game — which was broadcast on ESPN — was not delayed, and kickoff proceeded as scheduled.
