Packers will start Clayton Tune at QB in season finale vs. Vikings

Green Bay Packers coach Matt LaFleur announced that his team will start Clayton Tune at quarterback during Sunday's regular season finale against the Minnesota Vikings.

Tune will become the third player to start at quarterback for the Packers this season, joining Jordan Love (15 starts) and Malik Willis (one start). The Packers signed Tune from the practice squad to the 53-man roster on Wednesday. Elevated to the gameday roster last week, Tune completed 1-of-4 passes for 8 yards and an interception after relieving Willis in the fourth quarter against the Baltimore Ravens.

Love cleared the concussion protocol but is not expected to play against the Vikings, although coach Matt LaFleur did not rule out the possibility of Love being the backup behind Tune on Sunday. Willis is dealing with injuries to his right shoulder and hamstring, and Desmond Ridder -- who was signed to the practice squad on Wednesday -- only has days to get ready to be the backup.

Sunday's start will be the second of Tune's NFL career. Not only is the game on the road at U.S. Bank Stadium, but Tune will face Vikings defensive coordinator Brian Flores, who LaFleur called "one of the best business."

Tune was signed to the Packers practice squad in August, becoming the team's third quarterback. A fifth-round pick of the Arizona Cardinals in 2023, Tune appeared in 13 games and made one start before joining the Packers. He completed 14 of 23 passes for 70 yards and two interceptions while taking eight sacks.
