GREEN BAY – The Green Bay Packers may be resting quarterbacks Jordan Love and Malik Willis for the regular-season finale against the Minnesota Vikings.
On Dec. 31, they signed quarterback Desmond Ridder to their practice squad, according to the NFL Network, giving them two quarterbacks on the 53-man roster and Clayton Tune and Ridder on the practice squad.

Their next move might be to sign Tune to the 53-man roster. They have an open spot after putting cornerback Kamal Hadden and defensive tackle Jordon Riley on injured reserve Dec. 30 and claiming nose tackle Jonathan Ford off waivers.
Ridder last played for the Vikings, who signed him Sept. 17 after starter J.J. McCarthy was injured. He did not play in any games and was released Oct. 4. He was signed to the Vikings’ practice squad Nov. 27 and then released Dec. 2.
The Packers probably figure that Ridder got to practice against the Vikings defense this season and would be able to function against their heavy blitzing as well or better than Tune.
Assuming both Love and Willis are held out of the Vikings game, Tune could be the starter and Ridder could be the backup. The Packers could elevate both quarterbacks to the game-day roster from the practice squad or sign one to the 53.
