After a 2025 offseason that included bringing in three contributions in the secondary via the transfer portal in Dillon Thieneman (Purdue), Jadon Canady (Ole Miss) and Theran Johnson (Northwestern), head coach Dan Lanning and the Oregon Ducks appear to be back at it, as they're listed as the frontrunners to land Penn State transfer cornerback AJ Harris.
The 6-foot-1, 191-pounder is the No. 6 ranked cornerback in the 2026 transfer portal class and the No. 94 player overall, as he's coming off two standout seasons for the Nittany Lions.

Harris was a five-star recruit in the 2023 class, as he committed to Georgia and appeared in seven games as a true freshman. He then transferred to Penn State and immediately made an impact, being named to the All-Big Ten Third Team as a sophomore in 2024 and an All-Big Ten Honorable Mention selection as a junior in 2025.
He started all but one of his 27 games with the Nittany Lions and totaled 81 tackles, six passes defensed and an interception in two seasons.
According to On3's Steve Wiltfong and Pete Nakos, the Indiana Hoosiers and Missouri Tigers are standing out in his recruitment alongside the Ducks.
But, as they both believe, the Ducks are the No. 1 frontrunners to land Harris.
With the departure of both Johnson and Canady, Lanning may be looking to add experienced talent on the outside opposite true freshman Brandon Finney Jr. In Harris, who has proven that he can compete at a high level in the Big Ten, Lanning is in the running for exactly that.

Harris is in the process of scheduling Zoom calls with those three programs, which is expected to take until Wednesday afternoon. After that, the former Penn State standout will aim to make a decision.
