PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — No. 5 Oregon is set to face off against No. 1 Indiana for the second time this season in the College Football Playoff semifinals on Friday.
The last time these two programs met was back in Oct 2025 when Indiana handed the Ducks their only loss of the season, but the stakes are much higher this time around. Since that game, the Hoosiers went on to win the 2025 Big Ten Championship, defeating reigning national champion Ohio State, and took down Alabama in the Rose Bowl 38-3 in the CFP quarterfinals.

Oregon’s postseason play has been solid up to this point: A 23-0 shutout against Texas Tech in the CFP quarterfinals and a first-round victory over James Madison. The Ducks won their first-ever trip to the Orange Bowl and secured the program’s second-ever appearance in a CFP Semifinal.
Both teams have strong leadership in quarterbacks Fernando Mendoza and Dante Moore. However, the Oregon sophomore struggled in the Ducks’ first matchup with the Hoosiers.
Moore has been stacked 14 times so far this season, six of those came in their previous meeting with Indiana.
Mendoza has been a major reason for Indiana’s success this year with a 72.3% completion percentage, 36 passing touchdowns (No. 1 in the nation), and becoming IU’s first-ever Heisman trophy winner.

Both programs will meet once again at the Peach Bowl in Atlanta, Georgia, on Friday, Jan. 9, at 4:30 p.m.
