Oklahoma Sooners OL to enter transfer portal

The NCAA transfer portal opens on Friday, but many Oklahoma Sooners players have already decided to enter the portal, expressing their intent to transfer out of Norman after the 2025 season. The Sooners will have a lot of work to do to replace the expected portal entries that are beginning to pile up.

One of the latest outgoing transfers is offensive lineman Logan Howland, who was a redshirt sophomore in 2025. He's set to hit the portal on January 2nd. Howland arrived in Norman as part of the 2023 recruiting class, and redshirted in his first season at OU. Due to heavy injuries on the offensive line in 2024, Howland played in 13 games last season, starting six games at left tackle for a struggling Sooners offense.

In 2025, Howland played in five games, serving as an important swing offensive tackle for Oklahoma. Howland provided good depth, and he was able to step in when injuries mounted at both tackle positions. He leaves the program with two years of eligibility remaining, and a handful of starts on the o-line in the SEC under his belt.

Oklahoma hopes to return four starters on the offensive line from the 2025 season. True freshmen Michael Fasusi and Ryan Fodje joined redshirt freshman Eddy Pierre-Louis as the focal points of OU's youth movement up front. Starting center Jake Maikkula still has eligibility, and key reserve Heath Ozaeta could choose to return, but the Sooners have to replace a full-time starter in Febechi Nwaiwu and a part-time starter in Derek Simmons, both of whom have exhausted their collegiate eligibilty.

Howland joins Luke Baklenko, Troy Everett, and Isaiah Dent as offensive linemen who are set to enter the portal on Friday. It's a position where Oklahoma will need to add some proven depth this offseason.
