Oklahoma Sooners add former Oregon defensive back via transfer portal

The Oklahoma Sooners finally broke the ice on the defensive side of the ball in the transfer portal. Their first six commitments went to Ben Arbuckle and the offense, but now Brent Venables has a new piece to work into the mix, cornerback Dakoda Fields.

Fields transfers in from Oregon after playing limited snaps for the Ducks. He didn't see the field in 2024 and in 2025 was limited to just four games and 50 snaps. His last appearance came in Week 12, where he saw snaps on special teams only.

Out of high school, Fields was considered a four-star prospect and a top 100 player in the 2024 recruiting class. Out of Gardena, Calif, he was the No. 13 cornerback in the country, according to 247Sports. He was originally committed to USC but flipped to Oregon just months before the 2024 early signing period.

He'll be in the mix for rotational cornerback snaps behind incumbent starters Eli Bowen and Courtland Guillory. Fields has the size to be a difference maker on the outside against the taller wide receivers the Sooners will face in the SEC.
