1 week ago 3

The Oklahoma women's basketball team will head into its first Southeastern Conference game of the season New Year's Day in familiar national position.

The Sooners ranked No. 9 in the latest USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll released Tuesday. Oklahoma dropped one spot from last week despite not losing, falling 22 voting points behind No. 8 Michigan, the team with which the Sooners were tied before Christmas.

Other SEC teams in the top 25 include Vanderbilt at 11th, Kentucky at 12th, Ole Miss at 17th, Tennessee at 22nd and Alabama at 24th.

Oklahoma plays at Texas A&M and home to Mississippi State this voting week before facing off against those Rebels at Lloyd Noble Center on Jan. 8.
