Ohio State running back James Peoples may get to play against his former team in the near future. That's because the former Buckeyes running back announced that he will be transferring to Penn State just a few days after entering the transfer portal.
Peoples was expected to be the starting running back heading into this season, but the combination of a struggling running game and the emergence of Bo Jackson and others took opportunities away from Peoples. He still had 61 carries for 344 yards and three touchdowns, but that's a far cry from the expectations entering the season. He finishes the last three games with no carries at all.

With the expected return of Jackson and others like Isiah West, the San Antonio, Texas native must have felt that he would be better off in a new place with a fresh start. He'll now get every opportunity to do that out in Happy Valley, with the program losing its top two running backs in Kaytron Allen and Nicholas Singleton.
Penn State is not on Ohio State's schedule next year or in 2027 for the first time since the year prior to the Nittany Lions' beginning Big Ten play in 1992, but there is a chance that the two meet if both make it to the Big Ten Championship game. Peoples will have two seasons of eligibility left.
'Tis the season/offseason for transfer portal news, and we'll continue to try to keep you up to speed on all the comings and goings as the news becomes available.
