NY Jets vs Bills predictions. See our expert picks for Week 18 game

It was another putrid effort from the Jets in Week 17, who were outclassed and outmatched in a 42-10 loss at the hands of the New England Patriots.

The 32-point blowout was the home finale for the Jets, who finished the year 2-7 at home and lost their first four games at MetLife Stadium this season, outscored, 114-70, in the process.

The Jets play in Buffalo at possibly the worst time all season long. Outside of the normal weather concerns in the area during this time of year, the Bills are coming off a highly disappointing 13-12 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 17. After scoring a touchdown with five seconds left in regulation to cut the Eagles' lead to one point, the Bills decided to go for the win with a two-point conversion, but reigning NFL MVP Josh Allen missed an open Khalil Shakir in the back of the end zone.

While the AFC East is now out of reach for the Bills, they still have something to play for with playoff seeding. They would clinch the No. 5 seed in the AFC with a win and a Texans and Chargers loss. If they lose, they'll be the seventh seed and final wild card team.

Now the Jets head to Highmark Stadium, where they haven't won in over six years. Their last victory came on Dec. 29, 2019, a 13-6 win during Allen's second season with the Bills.

Here are our staff predictions for the Jets season finale versus the Bills in Week 18:

Bert Bainbridge

The pick: Bills 37, Jets 7

Here's why: The bounce back spot is clear here for the Bills with seeding implications still on the line. They get to face one of the league's worst defenses and an undrafted rookie QB in Brady Cook at home with weather being a potential factor. The Jets defense doesn't allow 35 first half points again, but it's not far off as the Bills go wire-to-wire here and win this one with ease. The Jets fall to 3-14, their worst finish in the least five years since the NFL moved to a 17-game regular season format in 2021.

Art Stapleton

The pick: Bills 31, Jets 13

Here's why: The Bills might not push the pedal to the metal with last Sunday's loss to the Eagles giving the Patriots the AFC East title. They still have something for which to play, though, and it is the final regular season game in Highmark Stadium in Orchard Park before the team moves to the new place across the parking lot. Josh Allen is nursing a foot injury, but you can bet he is hurting more from the missed two-point conversion throw that led to the defeat to the Eagles.

Dave Rivera

The pick: Bills 33, Jets 10

Here's why: Whether the Jets players really show any effort here, this one will be over by the half. Josh Allen and the Bills still have something to play for, and they'll take a big halftime lead before easing up as they starting thinking about the playoffs. The Jets will start thinking about the draft.

Bob Jordan

The pick: Bills 21, Jets 3

Here's why: Even if Josh Allen gets the day off as is widely expected, Bills' running backs James Cook, Ray Davis and Ty Johnson will not face difficulty against a run defense that ranks 27th in the league.

Chris Iseman

The pick: Bills 31, Jets 6

Here's why: The Jets are bad, that's why.

Brian Marron

The pick: Bills 31, Jets 6

Here's why: With the Bills coming off of a heartbreaking loss and still playing for postseason seeding, Buffalo should have no issues against a Jets team in the midst of one of the worst stretches in NFL history.
