Newcastle XI vs Burnley – Predicted lineup and team news

Newcastle United travel to Burnley tonight in their final Premier League fixture of 2025.

The Magpies are looking for a response, after a 1-0 defeat at Manchester United on Boxing Day. That result continued a poor record on the road in the Premier League this season. Eddie Howe’s side have won just one of their nine away games in 2025-26.

Howe will hope for improved fortunes against his former side. Burnley are battling against relegation, sitting 19th in the table under the management of ex-Newcastle midfielder Scott Parker.

Newcastle United team news

Eddie Howe is hamstrung by depleted defensive options. Dan Burn, Sven Botman, Kieran Trippier, Tino Livramento, Emil Krafth and Jamaal Lascelles are all ruled out for the trip to Turf Moor.

Amid those absentees, Lewis Miley has impressed when deputising at right-back. The teenager is set to start again in a back four alongside Fabian Schar, Malick Thiaw and Lewis Hall.

Further forward, Anthony Elanga missed the trip to former club Manchester United on Boxing Day, due to a knee issue. He will be assessed ahead of Burnley.

Howe will also weigh up whether to opt to include the recently-returned Joelinton from the start. The Newcastle boss praised summer signing Jacob Ramsey, who has deputised for the Brazilian amid injury problems.

“I think he’s just returning to his very best levels,” Howe said earlier this month.

“I think the next step for him is to start impacting in the final third with goals and assists.”

Newcastle United predicted lineup

Newcastle predicted XI: Ramsdale; Miley, Schar, Thiaw, Hall; Guimaraes, Tonali, Ramsey; Murphy, Woltemade, Gordon.

When will the match kick off?

The fixture at Turf Moor will take place on Tuesday 30th December 2025. Kick-off is 19:30 GMT.
