The New York Giants have requested permission to interview Indianapolis Colts defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo for their head coaching vacancy, NFL Network's Mike Garafolo reported Tuesday.
A Staten Island native with prior ties to the organization, Anarumo served as the Giants' defensive backs coach in 2018 before becoming one of the NFL's most respected coordinators.

Anarumo spent six seasons (2019-2024) as defensive coordinator for the Cincinnati Bengals, earning a reputation as a creative "mad scientist" schemer. His units played a key role in the Bengals' back-to-back AFC Championship appearances and Super Bowl LVI berth in 2021.
After joining the Colts in 2025, Anarumo now emerges as a candidate for Big Blue's top job.
The Giants, seeking a successor following a disappointing season, have cast a wide net that previously included Anarumo among early names like Marcus Freeman, Jeff Hafley, and Kliff Kingsbury.
Anarumo is also scheduled to interview with the Tennessee Titans. The move signals the Giants' preference for experienced, familiar voices as they aim to rebuild.
