New footage shows Steelers’ Chris Boswell not at fault for missed PAT

6 days ago 2

It appears some who were critical of Chris Boswell’s Week 18 performance — myself included — owe the Pittsburgh Steelers kicker an apology, as new footage indicates he wasn’t responsible for the “missed” PAT attempt to close out the Week 18 matchup against the Baltimore Ravens.

In a clip posted to social media, courtesy of sportswriter Christina Rivers, Ravens safety Keondre Jackson caught a piece of Boswell’s kick and was credited with a block on the PAT attempt — a heads-up special teams play for Baltimore instead of a previously believed blunder for Pittsburgh.

Through 17 games this season, Boswell has made 27 out of 32 field goal attempts. He was also perfect on extra points prior to Jackson blocking his kick in Week 18 — a savvy move that almost sent the Ravens to the playoffs over the Steelers.

Boswell will no doubt have his number called again when the Steelers host the Houston Texans on Monday, January 12, at 8:15 p.m. EST in the Wild Card Round of the playoffs — Pittsburgh’s first home game in the postseason since the 2021 season.
