Brooklyn Nets rookie guard Egor Demin came into the NBA with his shooting being one of the main questions that scouts had after reviewing his tape at BYU during his freshman season. Brooklyn has seen Demin shoot the three-pointer much better than he did at the college level, but he wants to move on from having to talk about his shooting on a game-by-game basis.
"I don't want to talk about it as much. I really don't want to test the future. I'm doing good right now with whatever I'm shooting," Demin said to the media following Sunday's 127-115 win over the Denver Nuggets. Demin finished Sunday's contest with 13 points, four rebounds, and four assists while shooting 5-of-9 from the field and 3-of-5 from three-point land and he's noticed that opposing teams are starting to defend him differently.

"I think so. It also depends on what team we're playing. Obviously, [it's] always different every night, right? For me, it's an honor," Demin explained when asked if he has seen teams trying to defend his shooting more as the season has progressed. "To be guarded by one of the best defenders of the team, right? I really got to find a way how to impact the game, not just from the three point line."
Demin, 19, is averaging 9.9 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 3.4 assists per game while shooting 39.1% from the field and 37.2% from behind the three-point line in 30 appearances this season. With regards to Demin's shooting, his growth in that area has helped him make more of an impact with head coach Jordi Fernandez's rotation, especially during December when the Nets finished with a 7-4 record.
Ultimately, Demin, the eighth overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, will have to improve on multiple areas of his game if he is going to be the kind of player that Brooklyn expected him to be during the draft process. At this point, Demin is tired of talking about his shooting from the aspect of how much has he improved as he seems to be content with his shooting as long as he is a productive player for the Nets.
