Nebraska basketball survives on the road 72-69 against Ohio State

Nebraska (15-0, 4-0) traveled east to face Ohio State (10-4, 2-2) for a Monday night Big Ten battle. In another close clash, the Huskers survived the night 72-69, improving to 15-0 and extending their winning streak to 19.

The Buckeyes nearly handed Nebraska its first loss of the season after the Huskers built up a 14-point lead over halfway through the first. But after Ohio State took a one-point lead with five minutes left, Nebraska responded with a 9-0 run to jump ahead and eventually take the win.

The Huskers capitalized on free throw opportunities, outhitting the Buckeyes 14-8 to help tip the scales in their favor. Ohio State outshot Nebraska from the floor and from beyond the arc, going 26-of-57 and 9-of-26 while the Huskers hit 25-of-57 and 8-of-29. The Huskers did outrebound the Buckeyes 38-29.

Braden Frager led Nebraska in scoring, shooting 6-of-9 from the floor and 3-of-4 from the line to earn 15 points. Frager especially came through in the end, scoring seven of the Huskers' final nine points. Rienk Mast tallied 12 points.

Pryce Sandfort and Jamarques Lawrence each contributed 11 points in the win, with Lawrence going 6-of-6 from the free throw line to lead the team. Sandfort shot 2-of-2 at the foul line and 3-of-9 from three-point range.

Sam Hoiberg and Berke Büyüktuncel combined for 16 points and 16 rebounds on the night. Hoiberg hauled in nine rebounds and 3-of-7 from the floor to earn eight points. Büyüktuncel wrangled in seven rebounds and shot a perfect 4-of-4 from the floor.

The Huskers remain on the road for a conference matchup, visiting Bloomington, Indiana to face the Hoosiers on Saturday morning. Tipoff is set for 11 a.m. CT on the Big Ten Network.
