Multiple Jacks finish top 10 in events as Bemidji takes 8th in Princeton

Jan. 5—PRINCETON — Members of the Bemidji High School gymnastics team had some impressive finishes on Saturday in Princeton.

With 50 gymnasts competing in each event, Taylor Hanks and Mariah Johnson had the highest finishes for the Lumberjacks. On the floor, Hanks finished with an 8.8, good for eighth, while Johnson took eighth with an 8.0 on the bars.

As a team, the Bemidji took eighth out of ten teams with a score of 128.75.

"(The) Princeton invite is always a fun meet," co-head coach Danielle Olson said. "Many of the teams are from the cities and the athletes have amazing skills to watch."

Other Lumberjacks finished in the top 20 Saturday, including Johnson, who finished in 10th in the vault after scoring an 8.8. Hanks finished right behind her in 11th with an 8.7.

Hanks also finished 15th on bars, with Stella Schoonover trailing right behind her in 16th. Ella Dahl had her best finish on beam, finishing 14th.

Hanks and Dahl were the only two all-around competitors for the Lumberjacks. Hanks finished 15th with a 33.0, while Dahl finished 18th with a 32.1.
