Mike Vrabel's honest thoughts on Drake Maye, MVP race entering Week 18

New England Patriots coach Mike Vrabel knows who he would vote for if he had an MVP vote. Here's a hint: That player's nickname is "Drake Maye."

"Well they don't give me a vote. There is nobody else that we would want as our quarterback or that I want as our quarterback," Vrabel responded when asked if Drake Maye was the NFL MVP.

Maye put on a show in last week's 42-10 win over the New York Jets by going 19-of-21 passing for 256 yards and five touchdowns. He posted a 157.0 quarterback rating and a historically great 99.8 QBR. He now has 4,203 passing yards, 30 touchdowns and eight interceptions on the year.

It’s been a remarkable year for the second-year quarterback, as both player and team have exceeded expectations. In one season, the Patriots have gone from being a 4-13 team to 13-3 AFC East champions with a real shot at making a postseason run.

Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford is currently the second favorite behind Maye to win the MVP award this year. It could all come down to the final week of the season for a true winner to emerge in a race that has been neck-and-neck for most of the year.
