Michigan State gains commitment from Iowa State starting CB

Michigan State football is on a recruiting heater, and the new staff has landed another impact transfer via the portal. The Spartans have picked up the commitment from Tre Bell, an Iowa State transfer.

Bell, a 6-foot-2 and 205 pound cornerback from Ballwin (MO), started his career at Lindenwood before moving up to Iowa State. He played last season for Hank Poteat, who now serves as Michigan State's CB coach.

In 2025, Bell was a starting corner for the Cyclones, where he recorded 36 tackles, 4.0 tackles for loss and two interceptions. He graded out as a 68.8 player in coverage, per PFF, as well as being a 68.8 run defender, showing his versatility to excel at corner in both the run and pass game.

The corner should come in and slot as a starter for the Spartans, bringing a veteran presence to a defensive backfield that is receiving an overhaul.
