Michigan football was supposed to have something of a bridge quarterback this past year. Having secured No. 1 overall prospect in the 2025 class in quarterback Bryce Underwood, former head coach Sherrone Moore didn't want to fully rely on a true freshman at the position. And thus, he got some insurance, or at least, someone to push Underwood to be his best.
Enter Mikey Keene, the former Fresno State QB who had played under last year's offensive coordinator Chip Lindsey in his freshman year at UCF. However, an upper-body injury kept Keene from truly contending or pushing Underwood.

But just as quickly as his entry is Keene's exit. Per CBS Sports' Matt Zenitz, Keene is entering the transfer portal with yet another year of eligibility due to his injury.
Michigan now has seen three quarterbacks enter the portal, with Keene, Davis Warren, and Jadyn Davis having all chosen to go elsewhere. As of the moment, Bryce Underwood and Chase Herbstreit, with incoming freshman Brady Smigiel on campus as an early enrollee.
