Kyle Whittingham has worked diligently not only to retain the current Michigan football roster, but to add players both via the transfer portal, and now via recruiting.
While he hasn't yet turned the page to 2027 (he has, but that's yet to yield any results), Whittingham managed to get his first commitment out of high school.

2026 Anaheim (Calif.) Western three-star cornerback Ernest Nunley had been committed to Cal, but was released from his NLI earlier in January. All of the intel suggested he would pick the maize and blue, and he finally did on Tuesday night, committing to Michigan football.
Nunley joins Jamarion Vincent as the second 2026 cornerback in the class, after a series of decommitments and flips throughout the cycle left the Wolverines with few options.
Ranked No. 1277 overall, Nunley is listed at 6-foot, 180 pounds, and also a blazing-fast track runner, having posted a 24.4 200-meter dash.
