The Miami Dolphins lost their season finale at the New England Patriots, 38-10, to finish their season at 7-10.
Miami began this season 2-7 and finished with a run of 5-3, including a four-game win streak.

The Dolphins must hire a general manager and announce a formal decision on if coach Mike McDaniel will return. No time like the present for an Overreaction Monday.
Quinn Ewers should be Dolphins' 2026 starter
Overreaction? Yes. Quinn Ewers showed he is capable of playing in the NFL. Quick release. Composure. Decent movement skills. Perhaps he ends up as Miami's long-term backup. Perhaps he competes with a new quarterback for a starting role in a 2026 rebuild. The next general manager is unlikely to just roll with Ewers, but one never knows, does one?
Dolphins should tear it down for 2026
Overreaction? No. This is a rebuild. This is a reset. Not just a relaunch. The next general manager must explore trading anyone and everyone. Nobody can be completely off limits. Not even De'Von Achane and Jaylen Waddle. Miami tore it down in 2019, focusing on an accumulation of assets. The next GM should focus on accumulating assets for the next wave.

Dolphins should draft QB in 2026
Overreaction? Yes. Miami has Quinn Ewers and Cam Miller, two 2025 rookies, under contract for next season. Which veteran Miami adds through free agency or trade is far more important. Moving up into the top two of the next NFL Draft (Las Vegas/Jets) seems unlikely. If there is someone to take a flier on in Rounds 5-7, sure, whatever, but Miami has too many other needs.

Dolphins should release Tua Tagovailoa
Overreaction? No. Take the $99 million cap hit. Move on.
Dolphins' recent draft picks concerning
Overreaction? No. The Dolphins played a lot of rookie this season and some played OK. Defensive tackle Kenneth Grant (Round 1) and guard Jonah Savaiinaea (Round 2) were not satisfied with their overall performance. They must be much more impactful and better in Year 2. Patrick Paul, De'Von Achane and Jaylen Waddle have performed well. Among the picks since 2021 that have not panned out: Liam Eichenberg, Cam Smith, Hunter Long, Channing Tindall. Miami is hoping Chop Robinson has a breakout in Year 3 that did not come in Year 2. Overall, the next GM must draft better.
