Miami Dolphins general manager candidate: Jon-Eric Sullivan, Packers

MIAMI GARDENS ― The Miami Dolphins are interviewing at least seven people for their open general manager position, including Green Bay Packers vice president of player personnel Jon-Eric Sullivan.

The list also includes: Tariq Ahmad, 49ers VP of player personnel; RJ Gillen, 49ers assistant GM; Alec Halaby, Eagles assistant GM; John McKay, Rams assistant GM; Josh Williams, 49ers director of scouting and football ops and Champ Kelly, Dolphins interim GM.

Here are 5 things to know about Jon-Eric Sullivan:

• Has worked on the college scouting and pro personnel sides of player acquisition.

• Son of Jerry Sullivan, a longtime NFL and college coach who retired in 2021 after more than 40 years of coaching. Jerry, a Miami native, was Dolphins' wide receivers coach in 2004.

• Played and coached wide receivers in college at South Carolina and Gardner-Webb. In high school in Louisiana, he caught passes from future NFL star Warrick Dunn.

• Previously interviewed for GM job with Jets, Raiders, Titans and Jaguars.

• Began his scouting career as an intern with the Packers, where he worked with former Dolphins executive Reggie McKenzie. Was hired by executive John Dorsey. A colleague of Sullivan has described him as concise and decisive. Has been described as the "right-hand man" for Packers GM Brian Gutekunst.
