Secretary of State Marco Rubio has a few irons in the fire at present.
The United States has just effected regime change in Venezuela, with Rubio deeply involved with the decision and its aftermath. The supposed peace between Israel and Gaza remains fragile − yet it's more than America has been able to broker between Russia and Ukraine. And Rubio's day job as the country's top diplomat aside, he's also currently serving as the national archivist and interim national security adviser while deeply embedded in President Donald Trump's inner circle.

But there's one job Rubio won't seek, and he found time Thursday to "address" any notion he might replace Mike McDaniel, who was fired as head coach of the Miami Dolphins on Jan. 8.

Mike McDaniel fired: How did previous Dolphins head coaches fare?
Mike McDaniel was head coach of the Miami Dolphins for four seasons, from 2022-25. McDaniel compiled a record of 35-33 during his tenure (.515 winning %).
"I do not normally respond to online rumors but feel the need to do so at this moment," Rubio, a Miami native and former Florida senator, wrote on his X account.
"I will not be a candidate for the currently vacant HC and GM positions with the Miami Dolphins.
"While you never know what the future may bring right now my focus must remain on global events and also the precious archives of the United States of America."

Former Fins general manager Chris Grier left the team on Halloween.
With that out of the way, the Dolphins can cross one candidate off their list, while Rubio can get back to geopolitical concerns.
