Lumberjacks claim first in New Hope tournament after win over Park of Cottage Grove

Dec. 31—NEW HOPE — The Bemidji High School girls hockey team have been playing their best hockey throughout the Holiday Classic Tournament in New Hope, and they proved it once again Wednesday afternoon.

The Lumberjacks defeated Park of Cottage Grove 4-1 in the Holiday Classic Tournament championship.

Millie Knott scored the opening goal eight minutes into the first period, followed by Megan Berg one minute later to make it 2-0. Emma Greiner and Bailey Rupp scored in the second period to make it 4-0 Jacks. Rupp would finish the tournament with seven goals, a team high.

The Wolfpack's Avery Tait scored on Bemidji's Lily Lauer in the third period. It was the only goal scored on Lauer the entire tournament.

Third period — PCG GOAL: Tait (Brenan, Hill) 4:34.
