Lane Kiffin has been working hard to make a splash in the transfer portal since landing in Baton Rouge, and he did so earlier on Sunday with a commitment from star Hawaii wide receiver Jackson Harris, one of the top pass-catchers in the portal.
Now, it looks as if he's trying to make an even bigger splash by hosting the No. 1-ranked player in the portal.

According to a report from On3's Pete Nakos, the Tigers are expected to host former Arizona State Sun Devils quarterback Sam Leavitt on a visit this week. Leavitt is ranked as the No. 1 overall player and No. 1 QB in the portal this year.
Leavitt began his career at Michigan State before transferring to Arizona State and blossoming in his first year in Tempe. The 6-foot-2, 205-pound passer was the Big 12 Freshman of the Year in 2024, throwing 24 touchdowns and helping the Sun Devils win the Big 12 championship and reach the College Football Playoff. This past season, Leavitt struggled with injuries, but threw for 1,628 yards and 10 touchdowns in seven games, while adding five touchdowns on the ground.
With Garrett Nussmeier out of eligibility after this season, and Michael Van Buren entering the portal, it was clear that the Tigers were going to have to bring in a passer from the portal for the 2026 season. Will it end up being Leavitt to lead the way in Kiffin's first year with the Tigers? We will likely learn in the coming days.
