It's no longer just news when a college football player enters the transfer portal, but also when schools reach new deals with their own stars to keep them from leaving.
The LSU Tigers reached a new commitment from one of the most important players on their roster on Friday night as tight end Trey'Dez Green reached a new deal to stay with the squad for at least next season, per Matt Zenitz of CBS Sports.

It's already going to be a busy (and expensive) couple of weeks in the transfer portal, so not having to replace Green's production is going to be massive. He figures to be a large part of the offense next year and will be a fun toy for Lane Kiffin and Charlie Weis Jr. to figure out how to use.
Kiffin is also bringing over tight ends coach Joe Cox from the Ole Miss Rebels, and they have had some recent success at that position.
Green is far more than a regular tight end, though, as he can make an impact from the slot and out wide as well. At 6-foot-7, 240 pounds with more than serviceable athleticism, he is a matchup nightmare wherever he gets lined up.
He enjoyed a soft breakout as a sophomore, but should be utilized even more in a less troubled offense. He had 33 catches for 433 yards and seven touchdowns. The problem is that he would disappear from the game plan for stretches
This is just one step towards what should be a very fun Tigers offense in 2026.
