LSU football could target Washington transfer QB Demond Williams

LSU football could be on the verge of a massive transfer portal addition. On Tuesday night, Washington quarterback Demond Williams declared intentions to enter the transfer portal with a "do not contact tag."

Not long after, CBS Sports' Matt Zenitz reported that "LSU is expected to be a team to watch as a possibility with Washington QB transfer Demond Williams."

Williams' decision to enter the portal came as a surprise to the Huskies. Last week, Williams reportedly signed a "contract extension" with the program, signaling is intention to return in 2026. It appears Williams has changed course.

The decision is already stirring controversy -- Washington won't let Williams walk out without a fight.

"Demond Williams signed what Washington officials describe as a legally binding revenue-share contract with the school. The university plans to pursue legal avenues and has been in contact with officials from Big Ten, who draft rev-share contracts for its league members," Yahoo Sports' Ross Dellenger reported in a social media post.

The news broke as LSU was hosting another top transfer portal quarterback: former Arizona State QB Sam Leavitt. Leavitt was spotted with LSU head coach Lane Kiffin at an LSU basketball game on Tuesday night.

LSU was considered the favorite to land Leavitt earlier on Tuesday, but now the high-profile QB is slated to visit Tennessee. Williams announcing his wish to enter the portal and Leavitt leaving Baton Rouge to visit Tennessee may not be a coincidence.

It's worth noting Williams was originally committed to Lane Kiffin and staff at Ole Miss before flipping to Arizona. From Arizona, he followed head coach Jedd Fisch to Washington.

Williams will be considered one of the best players in the transfer portal. The dual-threat quarterback threw for over 3,000 yards in 2025.
