LSU football adds defensive transfer from SEC rival

4 days ago 2

Former Auburn defensive lineman Malik Blocton has committed to LSU football for the 2026 season, per On3 Sports. Across his two seasons with the Tigers, Blocton amassed 34 tackles, eight tackles for loss and two sacks.

This is an important signing for an LSU defensive line that appears to be gearing up to become one of the best units in the country over the next few seasons. LSU signed two of the nation's top defensive line recruits in its 2026 class: Lamar Brown and Richard Anderson, ranked as the first and second-best high school players in Louisiana by 247Sports. Adding a player like Blocton should make this Tigers defensive line a force in 2026 and beyond.

Blocton is the 11th-ranked defensive line recruit in this year’s transfer portal class, per 247Sports.

He joins former Clemson defensive lineman Stephiylan Green and former South Carolina edge rusher Jaylen Brown as defensive line transfers signed by LSU this week. Blocton has the lowest player rating of the three, according to 247Sports, but he showed plenty of potential over the past couple of seasons. With an offseason to get healthy and develop, he can be a real playmaker in Baton Rouge next season.
