Lions can still 'find a lot out' vs. Bears in 2025 finale

With its season finale just days away, Lions head coach Dan Campbell says Detroit can still find out a lot about itself in its season-ender at the Chicago Bears.

Sitting at 8-8, the Lions have been eliminated from playoff contention. But, don't confuse the Lions' situation with a throw-it-away regular-season finale.

"One more left and, look, you can always find a lot out with one to go. And, no, we’re not playing for the playoffs, but there’s still things we can find out and I expect the guys that we have here to give it what they’ve got one more time. That’s the expectation.

"How players play, how they do on the road. Maybe a second time, how they play at this position. How they handle pressure, how they handle with nothing to play for. There’s a little bit of everything. Just find a lot out," Campbell said.

Asked if this Week 18 date from Soldier Field provides an opportunity to get a more extended look at younger players, Campbell sounded more interested in putting his best players on the field to find a ninth win and to secure a winning season in 2025.

"Yeah, I think if guys can’t go because of injury, then the next guy up will go. Young or old. Or, young or veteran I should say. Next-best guy available," Campbell said.
