While the pairing has had a shaky run to begin the year, LeBron and Luka have had some shining moments, including one that involved a deep pass down the court, capped off by a LeBron basket.

According to the future Hall of Famer, he was channeling his inner Randy Moss.

“He’s one of the best quarterbacks, and I’m a pretty good receiver when it comes to that,” LeBron said of Luka.

“It’s my job to not allow the defense to break that up or steal the ball. He put it on time and on target and made it easy for me. I watched [Randy Moss] a lot growing up. He did that a lot. When I played football, I kind of took that tip from him and brought it to the game of basketball as well, when you have that seal.”

In 36 minutes of action, James shot 12-18 from the field and made all six of his free throws. He finished the game with 31 points.

Along with his scoring, James came one rebound shy of logging a double-double. He also racked up six assists.

Meanwhile, Luka checked in for a team-high 38 minutes. He contributed 34 points of his own, shooting 8-18 from the field, and going 17-20 from the charity stripe. He issued eight assists and came down with six rebounds.

It wasn’t a flawless outing for the Lakers’ stars. They continued to struggle from three, with LeBron and Luka shooting for a combined 2-12 from deep.

As far as turnovers go, LeBron lost possession four times, while Luka had more than anybody else in the game with six of his own. Yet, it didn’t prevent the Lakers from picking up the win.

By taking down the Grizzlies 128-121, the Lakers improved to 21-11 on the season. They’ll get Saturday off before returning to their home court to host the Grizzlies for the second game in a row on Sunday night.

Barring any unexpected changes, LeBron and Luka should be back on the court, continuing to improve their two-man chemistry.
