Jan. 3—PRICEVILLE — Abby Langlois is making up for lost time.

Priceville, the No. 5 team in Class 5A, took down Class 3A, No. 3 Lauderdale County 60-35 Friday night, and Langlois was a big reason why. The senior finished with a double-double, scoring 16 points and grabbing 10 rebounds.

After missing all of last season due to injury, Friday's game was another big performance for Langlois in what is shaping up to be quite the comeback season.

"I needed that year off for my knee, but it definitely hurt to miss," Langlois said. "Not being able to be out there with your team is always the worst part, so I'm pretty exited to be able to play with them again."

Langlois took home The Decatur Daily Player of the Year as a sophomore two years ago after averaging 18 points and 10 rebounds, and so far this season, she's picked up where she left off. The senior is averaging 14 points and 11 rebounds through 18 games.

"My mindset is just to get after it," Langlois said. "I'm not really big on stats. I just play hard and whatever happens, happens."

Priceville head coach Shane Childress has coached plenty of great players through the years, including last year's Decatur Daily Player of the Year, Leah Childress. The second-year head coach for the Bulldogs said Langlois rivals any he's coached.

"She's such a dominant player, but she's also one of the best leaders I've ever seen. After 20 years of coaching, I can say that's something you don't see very often," Childress said. "When she's on the court, we're hard to beat."

Josi Langlois finished Friday's game with 14 points, while Josie Childress added 11. The No. 5 Bulldogs improved to 14-4 on the season with the win, and Childress said he feels like the team is beginning to hit its stride.

"Even though we were winning, we kind of hit some valleys with how we were playing and it feels like we're starting to come out of it," Childress said. "We have two big area games coming up against Brewer and Ardmore so we'll see if we're ready for this second half of the season."
