Kirk Cousins sheds light on what makes Bijan Robinson so prolific

There's no better player on a non-playoff bound team than Atlanta Falcons running back Bijan Robinson. That's something Kirk Cousins seems to know, and that was perfectly illustrated in the Falcons' 27-24 win over the Rams.

Robinson nearly crossed the century-mark two times over, carrying the ball 22 times for 195 yards including a 93-yard touchdown run. He also had five catches for 34 yards and a touchdown reception in Monday's upset.

A player that talented is something Cousins never thought he would see more than once in a lifetime. But what Robinson has been able to do on the field almost defies reality.

"He's a special player. 2,200 yards from scrimmage this year is amazing," Cousins told me when I asked him about Robinson after the contest. "Dalvin Cook had almost 2,000 one year and I didn't know I would have a chance to see that again."

The veteran commended the way Robinson plays with versatility, factoring into the run game, receiving game and serving as a blocker -- things that are essential to the position in the modern era for a running back. But, at the same time, Cousins emphasized how the Falcons need to avoid overworking Robinson and leaving him gassed after carrying the load.

"I think the key is we have to use him correctly and not overwork him," Cousins said.

And the team certainly has been making the most of his talents, as the Texas product has hit a host of milestones, including leading the NFL in yards from scrimmage. He also has the most yards from scrimmage in a season in franchise history, and has put together the most 150+ yard games from scrimmage for the 2025 season.

Even though he's been asked a lot of, Robinson's the type of player who wouldn't say no even if asked to do more than he already is.

"We asked a lot of him, and I want to make sure that he's fresh. But if you call his number, he's going to answer. He's not going to complain or tell you he's tired."
