For much of the Oregon Ducks' 2025 campaign, it's been essentially seen as a foregone conclusion that Kenyon Sadiq would declare for the 2026 NFL draft at seasons end. After all, he's long been projected as a first-rounder and considered far and away the top tight end in the draft class.
But after falling 56-22 to the No. 1 Indiana Hoosiers in extremely disappointing fashion in the College Football Playoff quarterfinals, the Ducks' star junior tight end left the door open to a potential return.

"I'm not sure, but it does help when we have a bunch of guys already coming back," he said when asked about his pending decision after the Peach Bowl. "I know that. There's definitely some unfinished business."
Speaking of players coming back, defensive tackle Bear Alexander and center Iapani Laloulu have already publicly announced their intentions of returning despite being eligible 2026 draft prospects. The returning core as a whole is strong, with true freshman running backs Jordon Davison and Dierre Hill Jr. highlighting the backfield while Brandon Finney Jr. and Aaron Flowers will headline a strong secondary. Edge rushers Matayo Uiagalelei and Teitum Tuioti both have decisions to make.
But the biggest shoe still to drop, and one that could set off a chain reaction, is quarterback Dante Moore.

For a pass catcher, especially one who could jet off to the NFL as a first-rounder, staying with the same quarterback at the college level for one more season could be the determining factor in his decision. If Moore were to leave, Sadiq would have to face the reality of having to establish a relationship with a new quarterback on the Ducks — a challenge that he could simply choose to face with a new team in the NFL.
All of that aside, it's hard to believe that Sadiq is satisfied with his performance against Indiana. He finished with five catches for 29 yards, yet all five grabs came in the second half with Oregon facing a four-score or more deficit.
The bitter taste in his mouth from an individual and team perspective that Sadiq would hope to avenge in 2026 at Oregon could sway his decision, something that will become public knowledge in the coming days.
