Kickers have certainly been in the news cycles this week (don’t remind Baltimore Ravens fans about that).
In the case of the Kentucky Wildcats, there’s good news.
Jacob Kauwe is set to return for the 2026 season. He gave a hint on his Twitter page that he would be returning, before later informing Kentucky Sports Radio he would be returning to Lexington for the 2026 season.

Kauwe is coming off his first season starting in 2025, going 13/17 on field goals and 32/32 on extra points for the Wildcats. He was 6/6 on kicks between 40 and 49 yards and 1/4 on 50-plus yard kicks. He has a good range, and that’s going to help Kentucky’s new-look offense in 2026, led by first-year head coach Will Stein.
Also, he doesn’t miss extra points. Even better.
Despite not playing, Jacob Kauwe made headlines as a true freshman, regularly drilling 60-yard field goals in practice. In high school, he went viral for booting an absurd 75-yarder back home in Montana before his arrival. Kauwe is from Billings, Montana. If you can kick in that state during the fall, you’ve got something good going for you.
This is a good returnee for the Wildcats. After all, kickers are important, and Kentucky doesn’t exactly have many key returning pieces like this as Will Stein overhauls the roster.
