The Iowa Hawkeyes are starting to get more and more active in the portal, and a big addition they have already made comes with the commitment of Elon edge rusher Kahmari Brown.
Undoubtedly, a position of need to replenish the exits of Ethan Hurkett and Max Llewellyn due to exhausting their eligiblity, paired with the transfer portal departure of defensive end Brian Allen, Brown gives the Hawkeyes an immediate infusion of depth and talent.

Film Breakdown
Pros: Very confident player. Kahmari Brown moves extremely fast and fluid for an edge rusher. He isn't the prototypical Iowa edge rusher built on plugging gaps. He can cover ground in a hurry. He has great bend around the edge. Multiple instances of chasing down ballcarriers from the backside, which showcases his high motor. Brown has an innate ability to get off blocks quickly and avoids getting caught up in the wash. Overall, he is a different mold than Iowa has had in the past, but one that raises the athletic floor of Phil Parker's defense and gives them a great chess piece to get into the rotation up front.

Cons: Brown was able to simply be more athletic than his opponents a lot of the time, playing at Elon. He relied on his athleticism, speed, and strength to go around and through offensive tackles. To beat Big Ten tackles, he will need to fine-tune some of his pass rush techniques, which is an area Iowa's coaching staff excels in and should only make Brown more well-rounded. Listed on Elon's official site as 220 pounds, he is on the smaller end of defensive ends. If Iowa can get him up to 230 pounds or so, which is an area Iowa specializes in, it could help him immensely.
Comparison: A more raw, slightly smaller version of Chase Young, with similar athleticism
