Austin Mock and Jeff Howe of The Athletic recently took a look at the Super Bowl chances for each playoff team.

Using The Athletic's playoff simulator, the Jaguars' chances of winning the AFC are at 13.6%. Jacksonville's chances of winning the Super Bowl are at 6.9%.

Compared to the rest of the AFC, the Jaguars' odds of winning the conference are the fourth-best with Denver, New England, and Houston ahead of them.

In terms of winning the Super Bowl, the Jaguars have the seventh-best chances, according to The Athletic.

Jacksonville opens the AFC wild-card round at home, hosting the Buffalo Bills.

The Jaguars are one of the hottest teams in football right now, which includes riding an eight-game winning streak into the playoffs.

Led by elite play from Trevor Lawrence, the Jaguars are averaging almost 33 points per game over their last 10 contests -- the second-most in football during that span of games.

The Jacksonville defense, meanwhile, is giving up just 14.3 points per contest over the last six games and continues to generate turnovers at a high rate.

Step No. 1 for the Jaguars is defeating the Bills, who have one of the more productive offenses in football with Josh Allen at quarterback.

" (Josh) Allen and the Bills have won at least one playoff game in five consecutive seasons," wrote Howe, "but they also opened the postseason at home each of those years. They lost their last road wild-card game, which was Allen's playoff debut."
