Riley Leonard will get the start this week for the Indianapolis Colts, which means that Phillip Rivers has played his final snaps of the 2025 season.
But after making this comeback, is he done for good?

That was the question Kay Adams posed to Rivers on a recent appearance on the 'Up & Adams Show.'
"I am," Rivers said when asked if he was done playing football after this season.
Rivers then continued:
"Everything lined up just right," said Rivers of the opportunity to join the Colts. "I said to someone, I just made up a team, I don't mean the Chicago Bears or the Minnesota Vikings, but had someone like that called, there was no chance. Because it was a place I had been, a team I was familiar with, the offense was exactly the same, the coach I knew. All those things. Our (high school) football season was over. It was all those things that made it the perfect storm because

"I said if one of those teams called it'd be an absolute -- there'd be no way. I'd kinda laugh say ya'll crazy. I don't see it being there. My mom asked me the same question. She was like, 'so, just hypothetical, if someone wanted you to play next year would you consider it?' and I was like no."
In a final effort to make a playoff push, the Colts brought Rivers in to provide stability at quarterback with Daniel Jones out.
In his three games, Rivers completed 63% of his passes for 544 yards with four touchdowns and three interceptions. He routinely put the offense into favorable looks pre-snap and helped the offense sustain drives.

Rivers said he will be back on the sidelines coaching high school football, just as he was before the Colts called.
