With the NCAA transfer portal officially open for business, Iowa football has already begun making moves, extending an offer to defensive back Parker Knutson from Southwest Minnesota State.

Knutson is a 6-foot-1, 193-pound safety from Sartell, Minn., that has two years of eligibility remaining. Knutson boasts an impressive list of accolades from Southwest Minnesota State, including being honored as a first-team Walter Camp Division II All-American. The Minnesota native was also named to the D2football.com Elite 100 second team and was a 2025 Don Hansen Division II All-American honorable mention team member.

Knutson started all 11 games this past season, finishing with eight interceptions to rank second in all of Division II. Knutson also led Southwest Minnesota State with six pass breakups to total 14 passes defensed on the season, ranking 15th nationally in total passes defensed per game (1.27).

Knutson's eight interceptions tied a team single-season record for the Mustangs, while his 13 career interceptions are now tied for the most in program history. The sophomore defensive back recorded 39 tackles.

Knutson has also received offers from programs such as Colorado State, North Texas, Arkansas State, James Madison, and Big Ten foe, Minnesota.

247Sports' Eliot Clough reports that Knutson will be visiting Iowa on Jan. 4-5, which comes after his Friday stop at Minnesota.

For Iowa, the potential addition of Knutson would further bolster Phil Parker's defensive unit and give the Hawkeyes some insurance at safety where it returns starter Koen Entringer, but also saw Kael Kolarik announce his transfer portal entry on Friday.
