Indiana is reloading on defense ahead of the 2026 season.

Jiquan Sanks, a sophomore defensive back formerly of Cincinnati, has committed to Indiana out of the transfer portal, according to Hayes Fawcett of On3/Rivals. He’s a 3-star prospect in the portal and ranks in as the 85th highest-rated defensive back and 749th highest-rated prospect overall. He was a 3-star prospect in high school as well, attending Central High School in Phenix City, Alabama.

Sanks has spent the past two seasons with the Bearcats, starting five of his 12 games played as a true freshman in 2024. Playing as a safety, he’s totaled 92 tackles (49 solo) with five passes defended and two forced fumbles these past two seasons.

Indiana’s defense has seen strong play from its safeties under coordinator Bryant Haines and position coach Ola Adams with names like Louis Moore, Amare Ferrell and Devan Boykin sticking out. Sanks gives Indiana even more talent and flexibility at the position.
