Nebraska’s #8 Jacob Van Dee earned his fourth straight win over #20 Julian Farber Saturday night.

In the match of the dual, Nebraska’s #7 LJ Araujo took on UNI’s #11 Ryder Downey. Up from 157 pounds the past two seasons, Downey is now 3-0 in duals against Nebraska — he beat Peyton Robb two years ago and downed Taylor last year in overtime.

After a scoreless first period, Araujo rode the entire second period against Downey, but the UNI junior returned the favor by riding out Araujo in the third — sending the match to sudden victory tied at 0-0. Downey was able to get in on a single leg in overtime before working for the takedown and the 3-0 win.

It did appear that Araujo may have injured his knee in the process, so that will be something to keep an eye on.

Nebraska was without #4 AJ Ferrari again here, so last year’s starter Harley Andrews got the start and took advantage of it against UNI’s Adam Ahrendsen.

It’s unclear why Ferrari didn’t take the mat again, but it’s become clear that the Huskers maybe can’t count on him being reliably in the lineup. Good thing Nebraska goes three deep at heavyweight — with true freshman Cade Ziola out of town at the Soldier Salute, it was Andrews who stepped up.

Andrews scored the first takedown but fell behind 5-4 going into the second period. He worked his way to a 9-7 lead late in the third period before he scored a late takedown and four near-fall points for the 16-7 win via major decision.

With the win, Andrews is now 4-1 on the year.
