How Rams can clinch No. 5 seed Sunday after getting help from Seahawks

5 days ago 2

The Seattle Seahawks delivered a gift to the Los Angeles Rams on Saturday night with their 13-3 win over the San Francisco 49ers on the road. Had the 49ers won that game, the Rams would’ve been locked in as the No. 6 seed in the NFC no matter what happened in their game against the Arizona Cardinals.

But now, the Rams’ path to the No. 5 seed and a wild-card game against the Panthers or Buccaneers is very clear.

How Rams can clinch No. 5 seed

If the Rams beat the Cardinals on Sunday, they will clinch the fifth seed in the NFC. They’re more than a touchdown favorite so they’re expected to win, and Sean McVay is treating it as a normal game by playing his starters in an attempt to get things back on track.

In the event that the Rams lose to the Cardinals, which would be their third straight loss, they will remain the No. 6 seed and go on the road to face either the Bears or Eagles.

The Seahawks clinched the No. 1 seed and a first-round bye in the playoffs, so the road to the Super Bowl will go through Seattle. Every other seed in the conference, besides the Packers as the No. 7 seed, is still to be determined on Sunday.
