Here are the details of Quentin Lake's $42 million extension with the Rams

For the second time in the regular season, the Los Angeles Rams have rewarded one of their most important defenders with a lucrative contract extension. After paying Nate Landman $22.5 million in November, the Rams locked up Quentin Lake on the first day of 2026.

The Rams announced a three-year extension with Lake on Thursday, ensuring their top defensive back will not hit free agency in March. Lake has risen up the depth chart and become an irreplaceable member of the secondary since being a sixth-round pick in 2022, now breaking the mold as the rare defensive back to get extended by the Rams.

According to Mike Garafolo of NFL Network, Lake’s deal is worth up to $42 million and comes with $25.7 million guaranteed. Though he’s a do-it-all defensive back, his $14 million per year salary ranks 12th among safeties and 23rd among cornerbacks, per Over The Cap.

His $25.7 million guaranteed is the 11th-most among safeties, showing it’s a fair deal for the Rams and for Lake himself.

This season, Lake has 61 tackles, one sack, a career-high 10 passes defensed and picked off his first pass as a pro. He also recovered a fumble and returned it 20 yards, forcing one fumble himself, too.
