Gio Lopez finds new home in ACC

The transfer portal is almost a week old, and there has been plenty of action for the North Carolina Tar Heels both with arrivals and departures. Among those players who have departed is quarterback Gio Lopez.

He spent just one season at North Carolina, and it appeared as if he was going to return for a second one. However, Lopez's plans changed as he entered the portal just a few days ago, following the commitment of Billy Edwards to North Carolina. And now, he has quickly found a new home.

Lopez will stay in the Atlantic Coast Conference and is officially signed to Wake Forest, where he's projected to be the starting quarterback next season. The Demon Deacons are coming off their best season in years and are looking to keep rolling.

In just one season at North Carolina, Lopez passed for 1,747 yards and 10 touchdowns. He did add 133 rushing yards but the consistency wasn't there. It wasn't all Lopez's fault as the offense overall struggled.
