Giants' Theo Johnson appears at Knicks game after being ruled out: 'I am not sick'

The New York Giants released their final injury report of the season on Friday, and among those ruled out for a Week 18 game against the Dallas Cowboys was tight end Theo Johnson.

It was the second consecutive week Johnson was ruled out due to an illness that appears to be spreading across the team. Or is it?

Back in Week 15, defensive lineman D.J. Davidson and linebacker Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles fell ill. Since then, cornerback Art Green, nose tackle Dexter Lawrence, edge rusher Abdul Carter, wide receiver Jalin Hyatt, and Johnson have all gotten sick, per the Giants' injury report.

Earlier this week, Carter, Johnson, and Hyatt were all reportedly sent home.

While Johnson was ruled out for Sunday's game, Lawrence and Carter were not given a designation. Hyatt was listed as questionable.

However, Johnson contested his designation on Friday night, appearing courtside at Madison Square Garden for a game between the New York Knicks and Atlanta Hawks.

Johnson looked happy and healthy, and apparently that's because he is.

After his appearance at MSG went viral, Johnson took to social media, declaring, "I am not sick" on his Instagram story alongside a photo of himself at MSG.

The NFL frowns upon injury report manipulation, and the penalties can be severe: Fines, loss of draft picks, and/or suspensions. The Baltimore Ravens learned that earlier this season after being hit with a $100,000 fine for incorrectly listing quarterback Lamar Jackson on their Week 8 injury report.

So far, both the Giants and the league have been silent about Johnson's sudden return to health after being ruled out, but you had better believe the NFL will look into things.
