Giants' Jaxson Dart, Abdul Carter fall behind in Rookie of the Year odds

For much of this season, it appeared as if the New York Giants could have serious contenders for the NFL's Rookie of the Year awards.

Linebacker Abdul Carter, the third player selected in the 2025 NFL draft, and quarterback Jaxson Dart, selected 25th overall, were deep in the mix for Defensive and Offensive ROY, respectively.

But that is no longer the case as we enter the final week of the regular season.

Carter, the opening day favorite for DROY, is now "off the board," meaning there are no current odds on him for wagerers to make a bet. This, despite Carter coming on strong the past month. His lack of sacks over the first three quarters of the season has hurt his chances.

Cleveland Browns linebacker Carson Schwesinger is now the favorite at -800, followed by Atlanta Falcons linebacker Jame Pearce Jr. at +800, and Seattle Seahawks safety Nick Emmanwori (+1300).

Dart (+2000) was battling Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Emeka Egbuka (+2500) for the top spot most of the season, but has lately been overtaken by a trio of latecomers in Carolina Panthers wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan (-150), New Orleans Saints quarterback Tyler Shough (+190), and New England Patriots running back TreVeyon Henderson (+1700).

Dart was asked on New Year's Eve if the OROY honor was on his mind as the season neared its conclusion.

"I haven't really thought of that too much. I'm just trying to go out there and win games. I'm not really thinking about that right now, to be honest with you," he said.

And that's been Dart's problem. He's only won three of his 11 starts this year, while Shough has gone 5-3 and has the Saints on a four-game heater.
