Florida State football's wide receiver room is taking a major hit as starting sophomore receiver Lawayne McCoy intends to enter the transfer portal.
McCoy was productive for the Seminoles in his sophomore season as he posted 396 yards and three touchdowns on 27 receptions in ten games. It was a significant boost in production for McCoy, who played in 10 games in his freshman year, but was limited in his role with just six catches for 52 yards while serving as the Seminoles' punt returner.

He was one of the top receivers for quarterback Tommy Castellanos, paired alongside Duce Robinson and Micahi Danzy. He would be one of the Seminoles' top threats for new quarterback Ashton Daniels, but with his plans to enter the transfer portal, it's unlikely he will line up for FSU next season unless the two sides can work out a deal to bring him back on campus.
McCoy was a highly touted recruit out of Miami Central and was a 4-star prospect in the class of 2024. He will be a highly coveted portal prospect, with top programs likely to compete for his signature.
