Former Wisconsin safety Avyonne Jones is set to reenter the transfer portal when it opens on Friday, according to On3's Pete Nakos.

Jones began his career with the Badgers in 2022, joining the program as a three-star recruit and the No. 1,073 overall player in the class. The Southlake, Texas, native appeared in two games as a true freshman in 2022. He totaled two tackles during that limited action.

Jones then transferred to Coastal Carolina following the 2022 campaign; his departure was part of the program's large-scale roster turnover after Luke Fickell's hire. He would appear in 33 games over three seasons with the Chanticleers, totaling 72 tackles, one interception and three pass deflections. His most productive year was a 53-tackle, one-interception, two-pass-deflection 2025 campaign.

The veteran safety is set to reenter the portal with a final year of eligibility remaining.

Several other former Badgers are planning to reenter the portal this cycle, including cornerback Jonas Duclona, safety Justin Taylor, and quarterbacks Nick Evers, Braedyn Locke and Mabrey Mettauer.

Wisconsin will be busy during the cycle, with significant roster needs on both sides of the football.
