Arizona’s transfer portal strategy last offseason put an emphasis on experience, with the vast majority of players added to the roster having started at their previous schools. But others, like offensive lineman Tristan Bounds and receiver Tre Spivey, had breakout seasons as first-time starters
The Wildcats are hoping that’s the case with its latest portal pickup, former USC wide receiver DJ Jordan, a player they previously recruited out of high school who ended up committing on Wednesday.

The 5-foot-11, 170-pound Jordan spent two seasons at USC but only appeared in five games. He had five catches for 38 yards, unable to crack a talented wideout rotation with the Trojans.
Jordan was a 4-star prospect in the 2023 recruiting class, ranking No. 84 nationally. Arizona was one of the first schools to offer him, in 2022, but he ultimately picked USC over Georgia, Oregon and Utah, among others.
Arizona has to replace several of its top targets from this past season, as receivers Kris Hutson, Nunu Whatley and Luke Wysong are out of eligibility. Spivey, Chris Hunter and Gio Richardson are the top returners, while the UA’s 2026 recruiting class includes a few potential instant contributors in 4-star prospect RJ Mosley and 3-star Caleb Smith.
Jordan is Arizona’s sixth pickup from the portal, third on offense. He will have three seasons of eligibility remaining.
