Former Texas A&M WR Mike Evans climbs higher in NFL record books

1 week ago 2

Former Texas A&M star Mike Evans has built his NFL legacy on reliability, consistency, and availability. That combination has made him one of the most prolific wide receivers the league has ever seen. And even in a shortened season—one that finally brought his historic 1,000‑yard streak to an end—Evans still managed to cross another major milestone.

This year was uncharacteristically difficult for Evans. The veteran wideout, who rarely misses time, battled nagging injuries and appeared in only half of Tampa Bay’s games, the most he has ever missed in his 11‑year career. That absence ensured he wouldn’t be able to chase down Hall of Famer Jerry Rice for the most consecutive 1,000‑yard seasons, a reality Evans has accepted despite the disappointment.

But even limited availability couldn’t stop the milestones from coming. In Week 17 against the Miami Dolphins, Evans hauled in a first‑quarter pass from Baker Mayfield to surpass 13,000 career receiving yards. With that catch, he became just the 22nd player in NFL history to reach the mark. Watch the catch below.

Depending on how long he continues playing, Evans has a legitimate chance to finish his career inside the top ten all‑time. For now, though, his focus remains on finishing the season strong and helping the Tampa Bay Buccaneers push for a playoff berth.
