Former Tennessee football safety Boo Carter was at Vanderbilt for a visit on Jan. 7, according to On3.
Tennessee coach Josh Heupel dismissed Carter from the Vols in November, one day after Carter was absent on the sideline during a homecoming game against New Mexico State.

On social media, Carter wrote he was injured and entering the transfer portal. Carter had been listed as injured for the game but was not among the other injured players in attendance.
A Chattanooga native who starred at Bradley Central his senior year, Carter played nine games this past season as a backup nickelback and primary punt returner. He had 25 tackles, including 4.5 for loss, along with three forced fumbles. He also has 11 punt returns for 145 yards.
Carter was a four-star prospect coming out of Bradley Central and was the Class 6A Mr. Football recipient in 2023. He was an SEC All-Freshman defensive back and punt returner and went into 2025 as a preseason All-SEC selection.
In July, Knox News reported that Carter missed numerous offseason activities.
